Sculptor Guy Hughes founded the Coppershed Gallery in 2003 to present more abstract paintings and pieces of sculpture than are usually shown in the mid-coast area. Combining the gallery and large gardens as a rural setting seemed an ideal, Maine- appropriate way to view these works.
The gallery is located in Warren, Maine, just a stone's throw from downtown Rockland and occupies part of the barn and a long section leading to their 1840 Cape home. Behind the house and barn are gardens beautifully maintained by Guy and his wife Josie. They have summered on this 75-acre farm since 1970.
